How it works

Using “Project kick-off” as an example: Emma works in New York, Luca and Sara in Zurich. Emma enters the dates in her local time.

  1. Set dates and time zone

Enter a title and create date options with times. Then tick “Set a time zone” and type a city, a country or an abbreviation in the search field, for example “New York”, “USA”, “EST” or “GMT+8”. Without the tick, times are in Swiss time as before.

  2. Share the link

Send the link by email, Teams, Slack or WhatsApp. Voting works without an account; a name is enough.

  3. Everyone sees their local time

At the top it says “Times in local time New York”. Luca and Sara in Zurich also see “your time” with the Zurich time for every date. If a date falls on a different day for someone, the weekday and date are shown. The local time comes from the device’s time setting – no location request and no cookie.

  4. Confirm the date

Choose the final date. The message “Date confirmed” states the time zone, and the calendar invitation (.ics) is added at the right local time for everyone.

Frequently asked questions

How do I plan an online meeting with participants in different time zones?

Create a scheduling poll, tick “Set a time zone” and choose the zone you enter the times in. Participants in other time zones also see every date in their own local time and vote Yes, Maybe or No.

How does Wannja know which time zone I am in?

From your device’s time setting. Wannja neither asks for your location nor sets a cookie for it. If your device is set to the same time zone as the poll, no extra line appears.

What about daylight saving time?

Wannja calculates every date with the rule that applies on that day. This matters because Europe and the USA, for example, do not change their clocks on the same weekend.

Does the time zone cost anything?

No. The time zone is available to everyone, including with the free account, for scheduling polls and sign-ups.

Can I change the time zone later?

Yes, when editing the poll. The times you entered stay the same and then apply in the new time zone. If you remove the tick, they apply in Swiss time again.
